Direct humanitarian aid projects
With a focus on the Middle East and Southeast Europe, we develop relief operations on escape routes and in refugee camps. Since the beginning of 2015, over a dozen relief operations have already taken place in eight different countries. We react very flexibly to current events. In most aid projects, we cooperate with local and international NGOs in order to help as efficiently as possible. StrickWärme members were usually on site. The previous projects were carried out by StrickWärme members completely on a voluntary basis and part-time.
Besides financial and material help we also have knitwear with us, which our community kindly makes available to us. The positive reactions to the lovingly knitted and crocheted dolls, hats, scarves or baby blankets confirm us again and again in our work.
Awareness-raising projects in Switzerland
With this area of our work, we contribute to conveying a balanced and differentiated picture of escape and related issues. We give lectures, organise events and do media and advocacy work. A children's book, a workbook and a short film have been developed especially for children to give children an understanding of the topics of flight, migration, asylum and integration.
Integration work in Switzerland
In Switzerland we support the integration process of asylum seekers and refugees. The encounter between locals and refugees is important in order to break down prejudices and to promote coexistence.
