The Swiss association StrickWärme is committed to helping people on the move. StrickWärme is committed to people in need and wants to provide not only physical but also emotional warmth.
All active members of StrickWärme are volunteers. You can find the e-mail addresses of the board members here.

Everything started with an appeal on Facebook in the winter of 2014 for people to send hand-knitted caps. The intention was to send them to children, who had fled the conflicts in Syria and Iraq. This winter in particular was especially harsh in the Middle East and people were constantly reading terrible reports of children freezing to death in camps in Jordan, Iraq or Lebanon. Civil society was obliged to step in. Like many others, we responded to the obligatory moral cry. Time to act!
StrickWärme was founded on 1 February 2015 because over 800 kg of knitwear arrived in response to the appeal in the first few weeks alone. The willingness of the general public to help was overwhelming. This made it necessary for us to put in place structures in order for us to handle the sheer amount of donations. After that we quickly started our first humanitarian operations in Jordan and Iraq followed soon after.
In the following months the association developed further, we established an account, built a homepage and became active on social media. After the initial sensitization projects further aid projects followed in Greece and Croatia. StrickWärme continues to develop into a genuine aid association for the needy and people fleeing. Although our association is still young, much has already been achieved. This would not have been possible without the excellent efforts of the many members, helpers and supporters.
Our heartfelt thanks to all who promote the association and to provide fleeding people with some physical and emotional warmth. Thank you!
